About Me

Hi! My name is Tonya. I am 33 years old as of 2015 and I have been sober since February 6, 2011. I have 4 wonderful children; 3 boys and 1 girl, ages 4 to 11. I also have 2 step-sons ages16 and 10.

I have been married to a wonderful man, Chris, since April 29, 2011. We've been together since April 11, 2010.

I am a stay at home/work from home mom as of Sept. 2014. I had worked for a plastics company as a plate mounter for about 5 years prior. We made a decision that it would be better for our kids and our relationship (we worked together) if I stayed home.

I am a writer and blogger here and at transformingserenity.com. Transforming Serenity is more of a personal lifestyle blog about my every day life as well as finding the good and positive in the small things. It's about my journey towards self transformation.

I also recently opened an online second hand store called Second Hand Glitters. That is still a work in progress. I have a lot of work to do and more products to add. It is small right now, but growing slowly.

I am a Christian, though I won't claim to be the best one. God has saved me from myself; from my demons. My spiritual journey is ongoing and complicated at times, but I am working on it and I know God is for me.

I enjoy reading, writing, cooking/baking, couponing, & working on my daily planner. Right now I am loving Netflix, especially the t.v. series' on Netflix. I've watched several, including Dexter (loved it, hated the ending), Sons of Anarchy (I am waiting for the last season to come to Netflix. I hated the ending of the the 6th season), and Orange Is The New Black. Right now I'm watching Lost Girl and Revenge.

My children and I have been through a lot the past few years. I was in my alcoholism for about 4-5 years off and on. Mostly on. My drink of choice was vodka; I call it the devil. Vodka is the devil in a bottle.

I am working on my whole life, inside and out. I want to be a good person. I want to feel good about myself, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. And I want to help others do the same. I hope to be an inspiration to anyone who is currently suffering, or who has suffered and can relate. I want my life and experiences to be worthwhile and make a difference.

My methods of staying sober are pretty simple. I just don't drink anymore. I don't go to AA. I rely on my faith to stay sober. For some, that might not work. But for me it does. It has worked for over 4 years, but not without trials. I believe there isn't just one method for getting and staying sober, though we all get to the same place before making the decision to get sober. We all have a rock bottom. Mine might be worse than the next persons or not as bad as another's. But for an alcoholic, rock bottom is where our lives change on a very serious note and it's where we make the life or death choice. I chose life.

My sobriety has to come first. I won't sacrifice it for anything, because if I do, that will be the death of me; physical death and/or spiritual, emotion, mental. I am grateful for my sobriety and for the support I have in my life.

    1. Hi, Chris,

My name is not Joyce, it is Tonya. You must not have read my blog. I wrote that I enjoy reading books by Joyce Meyer. I have no tips on writing a memoir or agents since I have not written anything that has been published, other than this blog and a few articles. I am sorry for the confusion, but I wish you the best on your writing journey and I would recommend writing a blog if you have something to say. I think it can be helpful with writing growth and getting your name and views out there.

I hope you do read my blog. Good luck to you.

    1. Hi, Cameron,
I am so sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I haven't been blogging much lately, life has sort of left me with little time, but I am happy to be getting back into it. I intend on focusing much more time to my blog. I have received so much great feedback from people and I want to help as much as I can. If you get this, please feel free to ask anything and I will be sure and check my blog regularly from now on.
      Thanks and take care.
